About the event
The Painted Toad is teaming up with Friends of the St Clair River and War Water Brewery to raise funds to protect and restore the St. Clair River watershed! Enjoy an evening of painting a beautiful scenic landscape of a rare, local landscape - the lakeplain wet prairie.
Once abundant along the shorelines of MI, these prairies are now critically imperiled, with less than 1% of their original acreage remaining. As we paint, you'll learn about this unique ecosystem, it's value to the shores of the St. Clair River, and how it supports rare wildlife like black terns, mudpuppies, and orchids. You can find protected remnants of this rare ecosystem locally at Algonac State Park.
Your ticket includes supplies & painting instruction, and a drink ticket from War Water Brewery. You will also be entered into a raffle for a rain barrel ($100 value)! Additional food and beverages are available…
